KUALA LUMPUR: Police is looking for local rapper Namewee to assist in the investigation of the sudden death of female Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, also known as “Nurse Goddess,” as the case is now reclassified as murder.

Dang Wangi Police Chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, will be detained in connection with Hsieh’s death.

Wee was the last person with Hsieh and the police believed he had connection with the case.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus announced today that the case of Hsieh, 31, found dead in a hotel room on October 22, is now reclassified as murder.

Police arrested Wee, 42, in the hotel room at 4.30 pm on October 22.

Hsieh was found dead in a bathtub inside the hotel room.

The police found nine blue pills—believed to be ecstasy pills—weighing about 5.12 grams, inside the hotel room.

Wee was charged with drug possession and drug abuse under Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 on October 24 after he was tested positive for drugs.

Wee claimed trial and the two cases were fixed for mention on December 18.

Wee claimed that Hsieh and him were working together on a video project and had discussions in the hotel room throughout the night.
