MELAKA: Chinese actress Datuk Fan Bingbing is extremely happy and honoured to be conferred with a Datukship and she looks forward to bring more good stories for Melaka.

She is one of the 57 who were conferred with D. P. S. M which carries the title Datuk in conjunction with the birthday of Governor of Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam.

She joins foreign superstars like Jackie Chan and Shah Rukh Khan who have also been conferred Malaysian titles.

“I hope to continue promoting Melaka and I will be in Melaka again next month,’’ she said.

Melaka will be the host for World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025, from September 27 to 29, 2025.

 With the theme “Tourism & Sustainable Transformation,” this program is organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and the Melaka State Government.

The actress, known for her role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, arrived at the Seri Negeri at 8 am, accompanied by her manager Jersey Chong Xin Ling.

Fan is awarded for her role in promoting Melaka as a global tourism destination, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof.

Fan, 43, was appointed as the Melaka tourism ambassador in May last year.

Her role has generated a surge of 1.2 billion online searches, with “Melaka” alone accounting for over 445 million.
