SEREMBAN: Four Umno elected representatives – a former speaker of Negeri Sembilan state assembly, two former executive councillors, and a state assemblyman are now appointed as local councillors.
They are in the list of 161 new local councillors in Negeri Sembilan while seven positions are left vacant.
Former state assembly speaker Datuk Seri Awaludin Said has been appointed a local councillor for Rembau.
Two former state executive councillors Datuk Hasim Rusdi and Datuk Abdul Razak Said are now Seremban city and Tampin district councillors respectively.
Former Pertang assemblyman Noor Azmi Yusof is appointed a Jelebu district councillor.
Abdul Razak and Noor Azmi were present to receive their appointment letters at the Negeri Sembilan state government building on Thursday.
A total of 85 councillors are from Pakatan Harapan and 83 from Barisan Nasional after negotiations held by the Unity Government.
Of the 85 from PH, DAP received 35 positions, Parti Keadilan Rakyat 33 and Parti Amanah Negara 17.
As for Barisan Nasional, 67 positions went to Umno, while MCA and MIC got nine and seven respectively.
The seven vacances are mainly reserved for Umno.
