Malaysian Alex Toh and his wife currently working in the United States, spent RM384 (US$84.21) to have their postal votes couriered to a runner in Los Angeles last Saturday, just in time for the latter to receive the courier before boarding his flight back to Kuala Lumpur this Tuesday.
Toh, a voter in Penang, paid the courier charge for express delivery to ensure that the runner would receive the postal votes before his flight.
“We tried our best to send our postal votes home.
“If you are in Malaysia, you should vote,” he said when contacted by Sin Chew Daily.
Toh missed the opportunity to vote in last November’s general election.
Nevertheless, he helped collect the postal votes from Malaysians residing in Sacramento, California before delivering them to a runner in San Francisco Bay Area.
Toh said both his wife and him drove about two hours to reach the Bay Area to deliver the votes.
Unfortunately, the windscreen of their car was broken while they were having dinner.
They were forced to drive home with a broken windscreen under a temperature of 10 °C.
Exercise your right to vote, urged Toh, who does not want to miss the chance to vote this time.
