BUTTERWORTH: P. Ramasamy, former Penang deputy chief minister II, announced his resignation from DAP this morning.
Ramasamy, three-term Perai assemblyman since 2008, was dropped from DAP’s election line-up for this week’s Penang state election, along with six other former assemblymen.
In a press conference this morning, Ramasamy said he resigned not because he was against DAP or Pakatan Harapan but certain leaders in the party.
“I am fully supportive of (incumbent chief minister) Chow and (prime minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. I am only doing this against certain leaders in DAP,” he said.
He said he had handed in his resignation letter to DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook this morning.
