KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will open a file to investigate the alleged misappropriation of RM600 billion public funds by the former Perikatan Nasional government.
In addition to former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin and former finance minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz will also be summoned.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has confirmed with Bernama that investigation had been initiated.
Former Melaka chief minister Adly Zahari said before the general election that there was misappropriation of over RM600 billion of emergency funds during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minster Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim subsequently pointed out that there was indeed violation of rules in part of the RM600 billion issued during Muhyiddin’s tenure as prime minister.
