Ministers, PH leaders meet over anti-hopping bill

PETALING JAYA: It is learned that minister in the prime minister’s department (parliament and law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was having a meeting with Pakatan Harapan leaders at a Kuala Lumpur hotel around noon today to discuss final details of the anti-hopping bill.

The meeting was held just as Wan Junaidi said yesterday the anti-hopping bill would not be tabled at the special parliamentary sitting on April 11, as the government needed time to study the definition of party-hopping.

According to a source, certain parts of the proposed anti-hopping bill still need to be finalised, after last week’s technical committee meeting.

Besides Wan Junaidi, home minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, energy and natural resources minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and finance minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz were also present at today’s meeting.

Meanwhile, Democratic Action Party secretary-general Anthony Loke, deputy president Gobind Singh Deo, Parti Keadilan Rakyat secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, communications director Fahmi Fadzil, and Parti Amanah Negara deputy president Salahuddin Ayub will represent Pakatan Harapan at the meeting.
