PUTRAJAYA, Aug 19 (Sin Chew Daily) – A record 22,948 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including nine imported cases.

Selangor reported 7,175 new cases, followed by Sabah (2,583), Kedah (2,137), Penang (1,655), Johor (1,526), Kuala Lumpur (1,439), Kelantan (1,271), Perak (1,229), Sarawak (1,206), Melaka (737), Pahang (736), Terengganu (621) and Negeri Sembilan (556).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,489,460 confirmed cases and 1,220,446 recoveries (including 21,720 recovering today) at 81.94% recovery rate.

178 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 13,480.

There are currently 255,534 active cases, including 1,060 at ICUs, 528 requiring ventilators.
