Malaysia offers best all-in-one Chinese education outside Greater China

KAJANG, Jan 29 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysia offers all-in-one Chinese education and a well-preserved Chinese culture besides China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, says Ambassador of China to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing.

He praised Malaysia for its effort in preserving Chinese culture and Chinese education.

For many years, the government of China and Chinese education organizations in Malaysia worked closely in training teachers and recruiting Malaysian students to study in China, he said.

Ouyang said such collaboration would continue to jointly explore development in Chinese education by sharing resources and holding joint meetings this year.

The embassy would be creating more opportunities in Chinese education for Malaysia in a bid to enhance the friendship between Malaysia and China. 

Ouyang said this during a virtual dialogue with representatives from the United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong), the United Chinese School Teachers' Association (Jiao Zong), the Association of Graduate Universities and Colleges In China, Malaysia and the Merdeka University Sdn Bhd on 22 January.

Various issues on education were discussed during the virtual dialogue.

The Embassy of China in Malaysia played a significant role in the development of Chinese education in Malaysia over the years. Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim thanked the support extended by the embassy for a long time in promoting Chinese education as well as the interactions in education and economy between Malaysia and China.

Jiao Zong president Cheah Lek Aee expressed gratitude to the embassy for their help in organising Chinese primary school teachers and headmasters to attend training in China and Chinese experts from China to train teachers in Malaysia.

Merdeka University Sdn Bhd chairman Chow Sing Yau said in the past three years, through the Merdeka Education Center, various vocational colleges in China offered a total of 400 scholarships for Malaysian students. Chow said he hoped China would open up more resources vocational education for Malaysia.
