JOHOR BAHRU: Shocked by the price of RM30.20 for a big plate of mixed rice, a patron said he paid the price for curry chicken, braised pork, egg and curry vegetables with rice at a restaurant here.
He posted on Facebook a photo of the big plate of mixed rice with the dishes he ordered at a restaurant in Taman Sentosa.
“I am shocked by the price. I did not ask the price for each dish earlier,” he wrote.
The patron said he is a regular at the restaurant selling mixed rice for the past 10 years and loved the fried chicken.
The restaurant responded to his post on Facebook by listing down the prices, stressing that the dishes were charged according to the portions served.
The restaurant told the media that the patron scooped more than two large servings of braised pork where each serving was charged between RM 5 and RM6.
The braised pork the patron put on his plate was about RM15.
As the patron ordered additional rice, it cost RM4 while curry chicken was RM 6, egg RM1.50, curry vegetables RM4, Chinese tea RM1, plus 6 percent of service tax. The total came to RM30.20.
The restaurant operator had thought about taking a photo of the large plate of mixed rice ordered by the patron for promotion, but did not proceed after sensing that the patron was not too happy.
The post attracted many comments from netizens.
Some felt one should pay more for larger portion while others were of the view that the operator should have listed down the prices to avoid misunderstanding.
