PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce his first batch of cabinet line-up between 4.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. this afternoon.

A source said he would first announce the names of the two deputy prime ministers and cabinet ministers.

Anwar had an audience with His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong this morning.

It is believed that he submitted the cabinet line-up to the King for royal consent.

After he left Istana Negara at around 9.15 a.m., he headed straight to the airport for a flight to Ipoh in order to return to his parliamentary constituency Tambun.

He was welcomed at the Ipoh airport by Perak state executive councilors, newly elected parliamentary and state representatives as well as heads of government departments.

After leaving the Ipoh airport at 10.43 a.m., Anwar headed to Istana Kinta to have an audience with Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah of Perak before travelling to Tambun.

Meanwhile, Sarawak minister for tourism, creative industry and performing arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said from what he knew, Anwar would announce his cabinet line-up this afternoon.

He said he believed the prime minister would not forget about the expectations from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the Sarawak state government when putting up the federal cabinet.
