PETALING JAYA: Wanita DAP chairperson Teo Nie Ching says Umno has already had some plans, and does not rule out the possibility of adopting the same model of cooperation with Pakatan Harapan during the six state elections last year, in the 16th general election.
“However, it is still premature to say now whether PH and BN will fight together or separately in the 16th general election.
“Whether we will adopt the model of cooperation during last year’s six state elections, Umno has had some plans. We will not tell you now whether to rule out this possibility.
“Most importantly, as a part of the Unity Government today, we sincerely hope that the Unity Government will succeed.
“So long as this doesn’t breach our bottomline, such as abuse of power, we hope that all component parties in the Unity Government will be successful.”
She said during a visit to Sin Chew Daily headquarters, “MCA leaders today have different ways and perspectives. This is their choice.
“As for DAP, since we have already accepted and are supporting the Unity Government, we hope that everyone in the coalition will be successful.”
When asked whether the cooperation model in the six state elections is unfavourable to MCA, she said laughingly, “That’s why he (MCA Secretary-General Datuk Chong Sin Woon) keeps finding fault with us!”
