KLANG: More than 1,000 participants of the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) got to taste variations of Klang bak kut teh during their sightseeing tour to know more about Malaysia.

Hosted by the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce, a total of nine bak kut teh operators prepared variations of the fabulous dish – pork ribs, mutton, chicken, seafood, vegetarian and the dry version for the guests at Centro Mall in Klang, believed to be the birthplace of bak kut teh.

Participants from the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, China and other countries were offered four different routes to visit Kuala Lumpur.

They could choose to visit Batu Caves, Dataran Merdeka, Putrajaya or Klang in order to experience the country’s diverse and multicultural society.

Different types of bak kut teh — pork ribs, chicken, seafood, mutton, vegetarian and dry bak kut teh — have been prepared for the participants.

Many were seen giving their thumbs-up after savouring bak kut teh.

The 1,500 sets of bak kut teh prepared by the nine operators in Klang were taken up in just one hour.

The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (ACCCIM) president Tan Sri Low Kian Chuan, former president Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce president Datuk Jeffery Tan, former president Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia, president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Jonathan Choi were among those present at Centro Mall.
