BUKIT TINGGI: The Pahang Chinese Chamber of Commerce hosts a reception for participants of the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) from France with Musang King durians.
The delegation of more than 60 are mainly women originally from China’s Zhejiang province but have migrated to France for over 30 years.
Datuk Seri Chai Chow Sang, president of Pahang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and a WCEC organising committee member, hosted a reception for the French delegation in Bukit Tinggi, where they had the chance to savour local fruits such as durian, mangosteen, rambutan and dokong.
Wang Xuqing, one of the participants, said she attended the WCEC held in the United Kingdom in 2019, where she watched a video about durians and other types of food in Malaysia and decided to sign up for the WCEC to be held this year in Kuala Lumpur.
“We have durians from Thailand in France. The taste of Musang King here is completely different.
“We had durians the moment we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. They are delicious,” she said.
Wang also said she felt at home in Malaysia although the Chinese population here is only slightly over 20 per cent.
Another participant, Chen Suzhu, who is visiting Malaysia for the first time, said she likes durians and mangosteen.
Chai introduced Pahang to the participants during lunch, highlighting the East Coast Rail Link that will be a catalyst in driving the economy in the east coast of Malaysia.
“We are glad to see the rail link to be developed into a regional chain and a key connection for Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members and other international markets,” said Chai.
The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park and Kuantan Port were also mentioned during the briefing.
