PETALING JAYA: Malaysian teenagers are welcome to take up vocational programmes at high schools in Taiwan.
A total of 29 high schools are offering 69 vocational programmes for foreign students with cash aid.
Malaysians aged between 16 and 22 are eligible to apply for the programmes in electronics, mechanical, automotive, bakery, food and beverage, care services, etc.
After the three-year programme at high school, students can continue with university studies.
Pang Thou Chong, vice president of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, said eligible students would receive a scholarship of RM22,000.
Except for tuition fees which are subsidised, students will only be required to pay for accommodation and miscellaneous fees.
In addition, they will be paid RM4,000 a month for internship.
“The sum is enough to cover the student’s living expenses,” said Pang.
Registration for vocational programmes will be open from January to 15 March 2024.
