Temperature detectors at points of entry as precaution to check the spread of respiratory illnesses

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health has adopted preventive measures against respiratory illnesses from China by setting up temperature detectors at points of entry.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the preventive move adopted by the Ministry of Health is to curb the spread of respiratory illnesses.

“China is doing the same. It has intensified preventive measures at points of entry in preparation for potential outbreak,” he said at the Malaysia Batik Day 2023 celebration at Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex on Sunday.

Tiong urged the media and members of the public not to over-interpret the issue which may affect the economy of Malaysia.

The craft centre will be designing a special series of batik to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China.

The centre plans to launch a one-year campaign to promote batik in China, while China would also be selling traditional cheongsam to Malaysia.
