PETALING JAYA: A light aircraft lost control and crashed onto Guthrie Corridor Expressway this afternoon.
Ten people have been killed in the incident.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that ten people had been killed.
However, the victims have yet to be identified.
Another source said eight people were onboard the aircraft, including a “VIP.”
A witness said a motorcyclist was hit by the crashing aircraft and was burned alive.
A police source told Sin Chew Daily among the victims in the ill-fated aircraft was a man with “Datuk Seri” title.
The private airplane was believed to have departed from Pulau Langkawi at 2.08 p.m.. and was scheduled to land at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang at 2.49 p.m.
The crash took place at 2.40 p.m. at northbound KM11.7 of Guthrie Corridor Expressway near Elmina, Shah Alam.
A massive explosion was heard soon after the crash.
When contacted, Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said he was on the way to the site.
Transport minister Anthony Look Siew Fook will hold a press conference at Subang Airport at 6.45 p.m. this evening.
