Bersatu’s Hulu Selangor chief quits party

HULU SELANGOR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Hulu Selangor divisional chairman Md Anuar Mohd Nor has announced his resignation from the party.

He told Sin Chew Daily he resigned from the party yesterday.

He said he made the decision because he felt he was cheated, insulted and betrayed by the party.

“As divisional chief, I have been working very hard for over three years.

“When party members were quitting Bersatu to join Pejuang, I set up the Hulu Selangor division.

“But suddenly the candidate (for Batang Kali) fielded in the state election was not the one recommended by the division, and the decision was made without any discussion with the division.

“We felt betrayed and insulted.

“Under such circumstances, I had to leave Bersatu.”

Another reason that prompted Md Anuar to quit, according him, was that someone in Perikatan Nasional had insulted the Selangor Sultan and infuriated the people of the state.

PN’s candidate for Batang Kali in the Selangor state election is Muhaimin Harith.

Sin Chew Daily reported earlier that the nomination had sparked an infighting within Bersatu’s Hulu Selangor division because the division’s preferred candidate was Md Anuar, not Muhaimin.

Md Anuar said he believed more Bersatu members would follow his footsteps to quit the party.

“As a matter of fact, 80% of our election machinery has been paralyzed, and you may notice that in Batang Kali, PN’s supporters for Muhaimin are from PAS, none from Bersatu I think.”

Under such circumstance, Md Anuar believed PH-BN would stand a bigger chance of winning all the three state seats in Hulu Selangor.
