BENTONG: Former DAP state assemblyman Kamache Doray Rajoo stuns local leaders by quitting the party.
She sent her resignation letter to DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Pahang DAP chairman Leong Ngah Ngah on Wednesday.
Kamache has helped campaign for her former DAP colleagues running as independent candidates in Penang in this week’s state elections.
She said she knew she would be sacked by the party for doing so and therefore opted to quit herself.
She joined former Penang deputy chairman Ramasamy to announce her resignation from DAP.
Kamache, from Perak, was fielded by DAP to contest the Sabai state seat in 2008.
She lost but did not give up, and subsequently relocated to Karak to serve the local residents.
She won the state seat in 2013 election and successfully defended the seat in 2018.
However, she lost the seat to MIC’s Arumugam Verappa Pillai by a very narrow margin of 96 votes in last November’s general election.
Back then she said she would remain in Sabai until her retirement from politics.
