SEREMBAN: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the way former Penang DAP deputy chairman P. Ramasamy announced his resignation from the party this morning proved that it was right for the party not to field him in the state election.

“He has been given many opportunities, including as three-term deputy chief minister. But he decided to leave the party two weeks after he was dropped from the state election line-up.”

Loke said even though several other incumbent assemblymen were also dropped, they did not quit the party but had instead helped campaign for other DAP candidates.

“This shows their loyalty to the party.

“When we decided to take him (Ramasamy) out of the list, we expected him to do so.

“Two other of his supporters have also left to stand as independent candidates.”
