PETALING JAYA: The latest Ilham Center poll shows that only about 42 percent of respondents are happy with the performance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
88 percent of Chinese respondents are satisfied with the prime minister’s performance, compared to 81 percent of Indians, 75 percent of others, and only 24 percent of Malays.
2,416 individuals were approached in the survey conducted between July 11 and 27 in the six states that will hold elections this weekend, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
There is a wide disparity in the level of satisfaction among respondents in states under the Unity Government and opposition states.
As many as 70 percent of respondents from Penang are happy with the PM’s performance, followed by Selangor and Negeri Sembilan at 62 percent.
Meanwhile, respondents in PAS-led states are mostly unhappy with Anwar’s leadership, with Kelantan leading the pack at 90 percent, followed by Terengganu and Kedah at 79 percent and 73 percent respectively.
