PENANG: Gerakan Rakyat deputy president Oh Tong Keong said the party regretted the humiliating treatment accorded to president Dominic Lau at a PAS ceramah in Sungai Dua, Seberang Perai, earlier this week.

Oh said PAS must provide an explanation within the Perikatan Nasional coalition.

He said although Dominic Lau had not been invited to the event or as a speaker, he is the Penang PN chairman and national deputy chairman, and his appearance at the PAS ceramah should have been acceptable.

He said the party president was snubbed by Penang PAS secretary Iszuree Ibrahim, who was initially PN’s candidate for Bayan Lepas and could have therefore acted emotionally.

“He (Iszuree) was originally the candidate for Bayan Lepas. His reaction was absolutely understandable. I believe his attitude could be different if I were to go in there instead of Dominic,” said Oh.
