PETALING JAYA: The Selangor state legislative assembly will not be dissolved before this coming Sunday (June 18).
The Selangor state assembly will be the first to be dissolved automatically on June 25, but as Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah will depart for Mecca for pilgrimage on June 20, there is only one last week to dissolve the state assembly to pave way for state elections.
The next state executive council meeting will be held from this Friday to Sunday, and it is widely expected that the state assembly will not be dissolved before Sunday (June 18).
A source said menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will have an audience with the Sultan after the state exco meeting on Sunday, to seek the latter’s consent to dissolve the state assembly.
The source said Amirudin will have to seek the Sultan’s consent to dissolve the state assembly before June 20.
