KLANG: More than 2,000 people line the streets leading to Istana Alam Shah early in the morning on the wedding day of Crown Prince of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz on Thursday.
Clad in a white baju Melayu, the Crown Prince, escorted by an entourage of security personnel and palace dignitaries, arrived at the palace in a Rolls-Royce from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery at around 9.30 am in a grand procession.
As the royal motorcade was slowly approaching the palace, people were waving Selangor flags, taking photographs with their mobile phones and shouted “Daulat Tuanku!”

Inside the royal mosque at Istana Alam Shah, Tengku Amir Shah and his bride, Datin Paduka Seri Afzan Fatini, were married in a private akad nikah ceremony.
An 11-gun salute marked the moment their union became official.
Selangor Menteri Besar, state excos, state government agencies, senior officials in Selangor and state assemblymen congratulated the Crown Prince on social media.
Tengku Amir Shah was installed as heir to the Selangor throne on May 3, 2002, at the age of 11, and was officially proclaimed Raja Muda in October 2016.

Born in San Francisco, the United States, on December 12, 1990, Tengku Amir Shah is the only son of Sultan Sharafuddin and his former wife Che Puan Nur Lisa Idris Abdullah.
It was a wedding that balanced tradition with simplicity.
Azrul Amila Amir, press secretary to the Sultan of Selangor, told the media the ceremony was kept modest, reflecting a blend of tradition and the modern outlook of Selangor’s royal household.
The rituals that were carried out—the solemnization, the procession, and the celebrations—were meant to preserve heritage without overwhelming grandeur.

This approach echoed the wishes of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah himself, who, nine years ago, had also chosen a modest wedding for his own marriage.
The wedding banquet for the royal couple will be held on October 22.
The royal procession, which began from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, affectionately known as the “White House,” added an especially tender note.

The gallery was built in memory of the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Tengku Amir Shah’s grandfather.
The late Sultan and the young prince had shared an exceptionally close bond—one preserved in countless family photographs.
By starting his wedding journey from the gallery, the Crown Prince symbolically carried forward his grandfather’s love and legacy.
The little boy once nestled in his grandfather’s arms has now stepped fully into adulthood, beginning a family of his own.
