Abandoned pig farming area to be converted to technology park
The Jimah pig farming area has been abandoned for over 20 years since the 1999 Nipah virus outbreak.

SEREMBAN: Seremban-based property developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd is inviting Chinese investors from Anhui Province to enter into a joint venture with the state government to convert an abandoned pig farming area in Jimah into a technology park.

The pig farming area has been abandoned since the Nipah virus outbreak in 1999.

Matrix Concepts founder Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock is inviting investors to redevelop the area and work with the state government for a technology park.

Lee, who is also the company’s deputy executive chairman, said after attending the launch of China-based company Tangxing Equipment (M) Sdn. Bhd. at Sendayan Tech Valley that investors from Anhui Province would visit Negeri Sembilan in groups from June 10 to 15.

One of the itineraries will be to visit the Jimah pig farming area on the feasibility of developing the area into a technology park.

The investors will also be meeting Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Asked whether Matrix Concepts would join the Chinese investors, Lee said, “ If the state government invites the participation of Matrix Concepts, we will consider.”

The Negeri Sembilan state government formed a technical committee led by executive councilor Datuk Dr. Mohd Rafie Abd Malek on February 3, 2021 to develop the pig farming area.

Lee said that during a dialogue with pig farmers last year, more than half of the pig farmers agreed to sell their land in the area when told of the government’s plan to turn the area into a technology park.

Lee is of the view that the Jimah pig farming area is strategically located being near to both Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Port Klang.
