Come back, Jho! You can’t be hiding for the rest of your life. You can lighten your sins by coming back here and making truthful disclosures of more people and things related to the scandal.
Jho Low sure had his way to escape scot-free!
Although this guy said to be behind the RM40 billion 1MDB scandal has been on the wanted lists of the governments of Malaysia, Singapore and the United States for so many years, has been sentenced to ten years in prison by a Kuwaiti court, and has been on the global red notice list of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) or Interpol — no traces of him have yet to be detected anywhere in the 195 ICPO member states.
So where the hell is this Jho Low hiding? From the images leaked out to the public showing off his extravagant lifestyle, it has been speculated that he might have plied between the major Chinese cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau and probably a few others. He could have also traveled to Thailand and Taiwan in between.
The MACC says it is currently in negotiations with several countries to have him arrested and repatriated to Malaysia.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki has confirmed the arrest warrant, and that RM28.3 billion, or over 70% of 1MDB’s assets, have been recovered so far.
Wholly owned by the Malaysian finance ministry, 1MDB was established in 2008 mainly to build global partnerships and promote foreign direct investments. Sure enough with such impressive-sounding objectives astronomical sums of money would be required.
Since its inception until the company’s scandal came to light, former prime minister cum finance minister Najib Razak had always been its official representative.
Between 2013 and 2015, the RM42.1 billion 1MDB debt scandal was exposed. Back then DPM Muhyiddin Yassin voiced his queries but was soon plucked out by the PM.
There are in-depth revelations in the book Billion Dollar Whale jointly authored by The Wall Street Journal correspondents Tom Wright and Bradley Hope.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates has described Billion Dollar Whale as “a sad story of corruption and international finance.” Compared to another book of his previous recommendations, Bad Blood on the scandal of biotech startup Theranos, Gates says Billion Dollar Whale is a “very quick” and “thrilling” read.
As Malaysian citizens, perhaps each of us should get hold of a copy of Billion Dollar Whale, and get a better picture of the havoc 1MDB has done to this country before concluding whether Najib should be pardoned.
The day Jho Low is sent back to this country will be the day of great revelations of this earth-rocking scandal.
The scandal entailed a total sum in excess of RM40 billion. With the white gloves put on, Jho Low led a bunch of people (indeed an entire organization) to execute his sneaky plans.
Once more dirt is swept out of the carpet, a whole bunch of corrupt government officials already wreaking havoc on this country would be implicated and apprehended.
Jho Low has never lived his self-exiled life in low profile. If he were indeed in China, given the efficiency of the Chinese police force, he should have been netted effortlessly in no time!
The thing is, no extradition agreement has been signed between the two governments, and even if this guy is arrested, the Chinese government has no obligation to send him back here on our request.
Come back, Jho! You can’t be hiding for the rest of your life. You can lighten your sins by coming back here and making truthful disclosures of more people and things related to the scandal.
