KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at its headquarters at 1.00 p.m. this afternoon.

The arrest was confirmed by the MACC in a statement this evening.

Muhyiddin will be brought to the Kuala Lumpur court tomorrow to face his charges over the Jana Wibawa program to help bumiputera contractors introduced when he was prime minister.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president will face several charges under Section 23 of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and Section 4(1)b of Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLA) 2001.
