ALOR SETAR: Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the state’s gambling ban was already announced back in November 2021, although the gaming operators only ceased operating from January 1 this year.

Sanusi admitted that the ban would cost the state government around RM400,000 in tax revenue loss each year. However, he said this was insignificant when compared to the tremendous damage caused by gambling.

“Even if the state government were to lose RM400 million in annual tax revenue, I would not hesitate to announce gambling ban in the state,” he said in a press conference today.
