PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce the list of deputy ministers very soon, and so far at least 35 names have been submitted by various parties for the Prime Minister’s consideration.

Berita Harian reported that these 35 candidates are from DAP, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Parti Warisan and others.

A source said every ministry would have only one deputy minister except the finance ministry and the now consolidated ministry of natural resources, environment and climate change.

As Anwar is also helming the finance ministry, he will likely have two deputy ministers to assist him.

In previous administrations, ministry of energy and natural resources and ministry of environment and water were two separate ministries, but they have since been consolidated by Anwar into a single ministry of natural resources, environment and climate change.

As such, the source said this ministry would likely have two deputy ministers, too.

In addition, the ministries helmed by deputy prime ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (rural and regional development) and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (plantation industries and commodities) may also have two deputy ministers each.

The names submitted by various parties are as follows:

DAP: Teo Nie Ching (Kulai), Liew Chin Tong (Iskandar Puteri), Steven Sim (Bukit Mertajam), Chong Chieng Jen (Stampin), Young Syefura Othman (Bentong), Chan Foong Hin (Kota Kinabalu), Ganabatirau Veraman (Kang), Syahredzan Johan (Bangi).

PKR: Sim Tze Tzin (Bayan Baru), Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (Balik Pulau), Rodziah Ismail (Ampang), Hassan Abdul Karim (Pasir Gudang), Adam Adli (Hang Tuah Jaya), Wong Chen (Subang), Zahir Hassan (Wangsa Maju), William Leong Jee Keen (Selayang).

Amanah: Adly Zahari (Alor Gajah), Aminolhuda Hassan (Sri Gading).

Umno: Ahmad Maslan (Pontian), Mohamad Alamin (Kimanis), Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Paya Besar), Abdul Rahman Mohamad (Lipis).

MCA: Wee Jeck Seng (Tanjung Piai).

Warisan: Mohd Yusof Apdal (Lahad Datu), Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Kota Belud).
