PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the cabinet line-up of the new unity government this evening.
Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have been appointed deputy prime ministers.
Anwar will also double up as finance minister while Ahmad Zahid and Fadillah Yusof will also be rural & regional development minister and agriculture & commodities minister respectively.
Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has been appointed minister of defence, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook is transport minister, while Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is minister of home affairs.
The other key ministerial positions include:
Economy minister Rafizi Ramli, local government minister Nga Kor Ming, international trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and foreign minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
The new cabinet will have a total of 28 ministers, including the prime minister and two deputy prime ministers.
Eight of the ministers are from Parti Keadilan Rakyat, six from Barisan Nasional, five from Gabungan Parti Sarawak, four from DAP, two from Parti Amanah Negara, and one each from UPKO, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and non-partisan individual.
