PENANG: Penang will likely follow the footsteps of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan not to dissolve the state assembly.
It is learned that after the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting last night, Penang chief minister and state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow was having a meeting with DAP members of parliament and state assemblymen at Komtar at 9.00 a.m. this morning to discuss this matter.
From what is known, even though DAP elected representatives have wanted to dissolve the state assembly concurrently, due to the PH presidential council’s request for a united stand for the states of Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, Penang DAP representatives have in principle agreed after over an hour of discussion to abide by the PH presidential council resolution not to dissolve the state assembly.
The source said so far most of the states have not yet dissolved their state assemblies, including PAS-controlled Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. Even Perak has not secured the Sultan’s consent to dissolve the state assembly.
