KUALA LUMPUR: All members of parliament have been notified that the Generational End Game (GEG) Bill or the Tobacco and Smoking Control Bill 2022 will be brought to a special select committee headed by Khairy Jamaluddin.
This means the health minister will not seek to have the bill passed in this parliamentary session and MPs will not need to vote on it.
The bill will be brought to the special select committee for further discussion and is expected to be tabled again at the Dewan Rakyat when the parliament resumes in October.
Sin Chew Daily has learned from MPs that the bill will not be voted today.
The special select committee comprises 13 members from the government and opposition.
