Good response for special EPF withdrawal

PETALING JAYA: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Chief Strategy Officer Nurhisham Hussein said public response for the RM10,000 special withdrawal scheme had been overwhelming as of 11.00 a.m. this morning.

However, he said the EPF website was not jammed up.

He admitted there were members complaining about technical glitches such as slow receipt of one-time passwords (OTP).

Nurhisham told Sin Chew Daily in a telephone interview that EPF had resolved this matter with telecommunications providers.

“We have also reminded the members they need to register their new handphone numbers with EPF during their applications.”

Nurhisham said EPF was still monitoring the situation of members’ applications today.

“So far the response has been good.”

The government has earlier announced that EPF members aged below 55 and in urgent need of cash can apply to withdraw up to RM10,000 from their accounts through pengeluarankhas.kwsp.gov.my between April 1 and 30.

EPF members must first withdraw from their Account 2, and if there is insufficient fund in Account 2, then they can withdraw from their Account 1.

Members can enquire about the status of their applications from April 9.

EPF will release the one-off withdrawal to the members’ bank savings or current accounts beginning April 20.
