KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Sin Chew Daily) — A chartered flight carrying 4,715kg of goods from Malaysia flew to Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan on a humanitarian mission on Tuesday.
Through the arrangement made by the foreign ministry, non-governmental organizations in Malaysia delivered winter clothings, milk powder and others to international humanitarian groups stationed in Afghanistan.
Led by Venerable Jue Cheng, deputy secretary-general of Buddha’s Light International Association, Global Peace Malaysia (GPM) and the Golden Horse Investment Bank formed a humanitarian group to extend a helping hand to the people of Afghanistan.
A delegation of 14 people flew from Subang Airport to Kabul to hand over the goods to the international humanitarian groups in Afghanistan and returned to Malaysia on the same day.
Ven Jue Cheng, one of the 14 in the delegation, said, “We feel for the Afghan people who are going through the harsh winter at this moment. We are trying our best to extend our care to the people there in our best way to assist the old people and children.”
The chartered flight was arranged by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, chairman of Golden Horse Investment Bank while Buddhist organization Fo Guang Shan in Malaysia and BLIA contributed all the donated goods – winter wear, milk powder, color pencils, stationery and others for women, children and senior citizens.
