ISKANDAR PUTERI, Feb 16 (Sin Chew Daily) — Er Teck Hwa, who used to be DAP’s member of parliament for Bakri, surprisingly showed up at Parti Warisan Sabah’s dinner in Johor Bahru yesterday, sparking speculations whether he has left DAP and might even represent Warisan in the upcoming Johor election.
Er told Sin Chew Daily he was at the dinner in his capacity as a friend, because he was having a good relationship with Warisan president cum member of parliament for Semporna Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, when he was Bakri MP.
“Because Shafie came to JB, and as a friend I think I should attend the dinner to show my hospitality.”
He nevertheless declined to reply whether he would join Warisan, saying only he would announce his political move next week.
The Warisan dinner last night was held in conjunction with the party’s launch in Johor while celebrating Chap Goh Meh marking the end of the Lunar New Year celebration.
Meanwhile, based on the information made available to Sin Chew Daily, Er is said to be keen on joining a newly set up party and is considering running in the coming Johor election, probably in one of the state seats in Muar district.
