KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Sin Chew Daily) — Umno vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has the support of 114 members of parliament (MPs) with the exception of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin confirmed that Ismail Sabri had received the support of 114 MPs to be the next prime minister of Malaysia.

He revealed that the only Umno MP who did not support Ismail Sabri was Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li.

When asked who did not sign the statutory declaration to support Ismail Sabri, Zahidi said Ku Li.

The Padang Besar MP attended the meeting chaired by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Ismail Sabri with Barisan National MPs.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Zahidi said the one vote did not make a difference in support for Ismail Sabri.

It would not have negative impact on Umno's proposal for Ismail Sabri to be prime minister.

Zahidi also said Zahid and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also supported Ismail Sabri to be the candidate.

He said all Umno MPs have signed the statutory declaration to support Ismail Sabri as new prime minister.
