Muhyiddin has decided to quit

PETALING JAYA, Aug 15 (Sin Chew Daily) – Prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has decided to resign, and will take this decision to the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council meeting today.

A Bersatu deputy minister who prefers to remain anonymous confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that he had been told of this decision by Muhyiddin.

"Yes, (will resign) Monday."

In the meantime, a minister's assistant also told Sin Chew Daily he had been informed by his boss that the prime minister would resign.

The minister had received the notice from the party's president Saturday night.

From what we understand, at least nine ministers and 14 deputy ministers have been notified of Muhyiddin's decision.

Nevertheless, Muhyiddin will discuss this decision in today's Bersatu supreme council meeting as well as a meeting with Perikatan Nasional party leaders.

As for whether Muhyiddin will reverse his decision, it will depend on the outcome of these meetings.

Muhyiddin is expected to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong to inform His Majesty of his final decision.
