PUTRAJAYA, Aug 1 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 17,150 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including one imported case.

Selangor reported 6,326 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,086), Kedah (1,511), Johor (1,045), Sabah (1,002), Negeri Sembilan (809), Penang (752), Perak (693), Melaka (686), Pahang (676), Sarawak (578), Kelantan (459) and Terengganu (429).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,130,422 confirmed cases and 925,965 recoveries (including 11,326 recovering today) at 81.91% recovery rate.

160 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 9,184.

There are currently 195,273 active cases, including 1,059 at ICUs, 531 requiring ventilators.
