KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 4 (Sin Chew Daily) – MCA and MIC have rejected Umno's proposal to break ranks with Perikatan Nasional.

From what we understand, the BN supreme council held its meeting last night to discuss, among others, Umno's decision to sever ties with PPBM.

Umno proposed that BN sever ties with PN, but this was not agreed by the other two BN components.

MCA and MIC felt they should keep the status quo at least until the parliament is dissolved.

It is also learned that the two parties did not agree to the appointment of Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan as BN secretary-general, in last night's meeting.
