PETALING JAYA, Jan 19 (Sin Chew Daily) – The 2021 Bahasa Malaysia textbook for SJKC Year 5 will have three pages introducing the Jawi script through the road sign, business signboard and the Jawi lettering on official letterhead.

From the textbook content made available to Sin Chew Daily, the three pages of Seni Bahasa will include: Hotel Kucing, Kedai Dobi and Karya Sains.

From the three pages introducing the Jawi calligraphy, we can see that the text is all in romanized Bahasa Malaysia and the content is about things the students will come across in their day-to-day living, including the Jawi script. Students are not required to learn to write Jawi.
