PUTRAJAYA, Jan 8 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 2,643 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including two imported cases.

Selangor reported the highest number of new cases at 1,086, followed by Sabah (401), Johor (298), Kuala Lumpur (282) and Kedah (107).

To date there are a cumulative total of 131,108 confirmed cases and 105,431 recoveries (including 2,708 discharged today) at 80.4% recovery rate.

A record 16 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 537.

There are currently 25,140 active cases, including 170 at ICUs, 82 requiring ventilators.
