PETALING JAYA, Jan 6 (Sin Chew Daily) — The interest-free study loan scheme for Malaysian youths joining Taiwan's Overseas Youth Training Program, or Hai Qing Ban, is now open for application.

The Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities Malaysia said in a statement that the deadline for the application is January 31.

Malaysian youths admitted for the first year of the program in Taiwan can apply for the loan.

Each student is entitled to RM3,000 in study loan for a period of two years.

The statement said the study loan scheme set up with funds raised from various alumni associations of Taiwan universities, foundations, charity organizations, entrepreneurs, colleges and universities in Taiwan, offers underprivileged students with good academic results the opportunity to complete their studies at tertiary level in Taiwan.

The federation started the online study loan application system last year. Applicants have to submit their forms which have been verified, it said.
