KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that MACC officials raided Amanah headquarters this morning.

MACC also confirmed that Amanah president Mohamad Sabu's political secretary Mohd Azhar Mat Dali was arrested last night, taken to court this morning and remanded for six days until July 13.

Mohd Azhar was detained after giving his statement at MACC headquarters at 20:00 last night.

Amanah information chief Khalid Samad also confirmed the incident with Sin Chew Daily.

"Yes, he (Mohd Azhar) was taken to the court and remanded for six days."

An MACC source said the 49-year-old suspect was accused of accepting millions of ringgit in bribes from a company in exchange for RM56 million worth of national security system maintenance contract in August 2019.

The source said MACC had confiscated over RM70,000 worth of cash and documents related to the project from Amanah headquarters.

The case will be investigated under Section 17A of the MACC Act.
