PETALING JAYA, July 3 (Sin Chew Daily) – When contacted by Sin Chew Daily today, Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice president Tian Chua denied he had been instructed by the party to quit his Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) chairman post.

"No such thing! I'll find out who is doing this! No letter, nothing!"

It has been reported that PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail issued a letter to instruct Chua to quit as MPC chairman on June 29.

Chua said he met party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in private about retaining the MPC post, and Anwar understood his situation and there should be no issue with that.

"Someone raised the issue in the central committee meeting, and Anwar just said he agreed in principle (for me to resign)…"

But he declined to comment whether he would resign.

It has been reported that PKR in its meeting on June 28 decided to ask Chua, who was appointed MPC chairman last year, to quit the post or face severe action.

MPC is under the jurisdiction of the international trade and industry ministry, which is helmed by senior minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, former PKR deputy president.
