PETALING JAYA, July 3 (Sin Chew Daily) – Pakatan Harapan presidential council will meet next Monday on the PH++ prime ministerial candidate issue.
Amanah information chief Khalid Abdul Samad said both his party and DAP had held central committee meetings to discuss the issue but had not made any decision yet, adding that they would bring the matter to the PH presidential council meeting next week.
During an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Khalid said if the PH presidential council meeting could not reach an agreement on the proposed "Shafie-Anwar-Mukhriz" formula to get the support of more East Malaysian MPs, or if PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim does not agree to it, PH++ could consider a fourth option, namely "Anwar-Shafie-Mukhriz" combo.
"There's no problem. If Anwar does not agree to Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal as prime ministerial candidate, we can always discuss about it, or make Anwar the prime minister instead, but this needs to be discussed in the meeting in order to get a consensus.
"PH still supports Anwar as prime minister, but he does not have the numbers. So we need to look for alternative solutions.
"Amanah's central committee has not made any decision on this matter yet. It will be up to PH presidential council to decide."
Khalid nevertheless admitted that there were divergent views during Amanah's central committee meeting, and they had analyzed the pros and cons of Shafie as prime minister.
