Amanah: PKR must state its stand on ‘Mahathir-Anwar’ combo fast

PETALING JAYA, June 18 (Sin Chew Daily) — Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said his party will respect the decision made by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said if Anwar does not accept the "Mahathir-Anwar" combo, Amanah will continue to stay in Pakatan Harapan to support him.

During a telephone interview with Sin Chew Daily, Khalid nevertheless emphasized that Amanah agrees to what DAP organizing secretary Anthony Loke has said, that PKR should state its stand as soon as possible whether the party accepts the "Mahathir-Anwar" combo, as this will give PH a clearer direction.

"We (Amanah) want Anwar to become prime minister, but as he cannot become PM in one step, we can accept a two-step approach for him to become PM.

"Since we don't have enough support for Anwar to directly become PM, Mahathir will become PM for six months before handing over to Anwar. This was proposed (in the meeting)."

"What we want now is like what Anthony has said. We want to know whether PKR agrees or disagrees to it ("Mahathir-Anwar" combo).

"They need to let us make a decision whether to make Mahathir our friend or enemy.

"If we don't want to work with Mahathir, then we should stop calling ourselves PH++."
