PETALING JAYA, Mar 19 (Sin Chew Daily) — Foreign minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein confirmed that the massive Muslim gathering in Indonesia's South Sulawesi province had been cancelled.

"Many people have messaged me saying they are worried about the spread of COVID-19, as many Malaysians are taking part in the event.

"Don't worry. The organizers have decided to postpone it."

Gowa regent Adnan Purichta said on social media that he had finally convinced the organizers to cancel the event in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.

He also said Muslims would be quarantined before leaving Gowa regency.
