PUTRAJAYA, Mar 11 (Sin Chew Daily) — Prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin emphasized that all senior ministers were equal. However, he said in the event he was unable to chair the cabinet meeting, international trade and industry senior minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali would chair the meeting on his behalf.

The prime minister admitted that he had indeed written to his predecessor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to seek a meeting.

"I wanted Tun Mahathir to recognize that this government is legal and constitutional."

He said during a press conference after chairing the cabinet meeting this morning that the government had set up an economic action council to tackle the economic impact of coronavirus outbreak.

The council, which is presided by Muhyiddin himself with Azmin Ali, finance minster Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and minister in the PM's department (economic affairs) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed as members, will meet every Monday.

Muhyiddin also announced that the government would set up a RM1 million coronavirus fund.
