KUALA LUMPUR : Teoh Lee Lan is ready to head to United Nations Human Rights Special Rapporteur in Geneva for her brother Teoh Beng Hock’s case after raising RM122,377 through crowdfunding.
The Teoh Beng Hock Democratic Promotion Society said in a statement on Aug 2 that the funds will be used to support Teoh Lee Lan to lodge a complaint with the UN Human Right group based in Geneva regarding the death of her brother, former political aide Beng Hock, in 2009.
The group expressed gratitude for the outpouring of public support and said the crowdfunding campaign is now closed.
The surplus of the fund will be used to organize public forums and the group’s annual memorial events, it said.
The group launched a nationwide tour to conduct series of talks since June 22 and targeted to raise RM50,000.
It issued a statement on Aug 1 to announce RM39,075 was raised as of July 30 through talks., unable to achieve its target of RM50,000. .
In 24 hours, the group received RM83,302 in donations.
