Social activist Robert Phang passes away at 85
Prominent social activist Tan Sri Robert Phang

PETALING JAYA : Founder and chairman of the Social Care Foundation Tan Sri Robert Phang Miow Sin has passed away. He was 85.

Phang passed away at 6.30pm on Friday at Tung Shin Hospital.

Former DAP central executive committee member Ronnie Liu announced Phang’s passing on his Facebook.

Phang was once a member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission advisory board member.

He was also known as a social activist and a philanthropist.

Phang donated computer equipment to many schools in Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang and Kedah and also contributed air purifiers to many dialysis centres in Klang.

He also helped children with heart diseases to raise fund so that they could undergo surgeries.

Phang saved two auditors from KPMG who have been detained for 50 days by travelling to Sulawesi, Indonesia in 2005.

Former DAP central executive committee member Ronnie Liu confirmed the passing of the social activist at 6.30pm on July 18 on his Facebook.

Phang,  once a member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission advisory board member, was also a social activist and a philanthropist.

He donated computer equipment to many schools in Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang and Kedah as well as also contributed air purifiers to various dialysis centres in Klang.

He helped children with heart diseases by donation and raising funds so that they could undergo surgeries.

In 2005, Phang saved two auditors from KPMG who had been detained for 50 days in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

He travelled alone to Sulawesi.
